Here is the cover and jacket illustration for Salman Rushdie’s latest novel. I received a synopsis and excerpts from the art director, which helped inspire several initial design ideas. After presenting five different concepts, the author preferred a more realistic style, requesting specific architectural elements. Based on this feedback, I created a landscape design that wraps around the entire book jacket, including the inside flaps. Below are a few sketches from the process, along with the final printed book.
